Aloe Vera Juice

The Aloe I Use

Presently I use Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Juice which is, according to the company, made from organic aloe vera gel fillet cold processed on the same day it is harvested.  This brand does contain a small amount of Citric Acid and 1/10th of 1% of the food preservative Sodium Benzoate.

About Aloe “Gel”

I do not use gel because it turns out that Aloe can’t retain its gel-like consistency once removed from the plant.  The gel that we can purchase in stores has added ingredients that make it into a gel. Aubrey’s for instance  has guar gum and grapefruit extract – no problem with those ingredients but I may as well add them myself (if I want them) and not pay$7.95 for 4 ounces.

Aloe Farms lists ingredients as:

Potassium Sorbate is used as a preservative to counteract bacteria. Ascorbic Acid is an anti-oxidant, also known as Vitamin C. Citric Acid is used as a preservative. The gel has minute amount of Xanthan Gum in order to provide that wonderful coating action.

Other brands contain more unfamiliar ingredients like:

Triethanolamine

Carbomer 940

Tetrasodium EDTA

DMDM Hydantoin

Diazolidinyl Ure
