TOOTHPASTE Remineralizing Cocoa Toothpaste with Activated Charcoal

Description

Remineralizing Cocoa Toothpaste with Activated Charcoal

This fluoride free natural, vegan toothpaste combines clay toothpaste, whitening toothpaste with organic extra virgin coconut oil toothpaste. It is sls free unlike most commonly sold tooth cleansers. Registered Dental Hygienist Magazine suggests that those experiencing lesions on mouth might try toothpastes free of sodium lauryl sulfate.

My remineralizing cocoa toothpaste with activated charcoal is the best natural toothpaste I’ve ever used and is also glycerin free. It comes in a glass jar and the contents weight 2.5 oz.

Oil to Cleanse and Detoxify

Inspired by traditional oil pulling practiced in India, I use organic extra virgin Coconut Oil and organic sesame seed oil as a gentle base and antibacterial agent. Oil pulling is used to cleanse teeth and detoxify. It is thought that oil pulls debris, toxins and bacteria off the teeth.

Using Old Fashioned Baking Soda

Added to this is the basic tooth cleansing, Ph adjusting baking soda my grandmother used her entire life, and she lived until 101. Many people say that Baking Soda works by gently scrubbing. However, the high alkalinity of the baking soda contribute significantly to fighting plaque build up. Tartar causing bacteria found in the mouth can’t survive the high Ph of the Baking Soda so using it daily in your mouth is a very effective way to manage decay.

Activated Charcoal as an Adsorber

Using Activated Charcoal isn’t a new sensation, in fact, it is so common sense in many cultures including in Mexico, Old Europe and Africa that they don’t even think about it. In many countries, traditional peoples still use the ashes or charcoal directly from the fire to clean their teeth. Unconventional Mama tells how her Nigerian husband’s family would “…use a wet finger to pick up some cooled down ashes from the fire place and then just use their finger to rub the charcoal onto their teeth – kind of like brushing teeth with your finger instead of a tooth brush.” Activated Charcoal, scientists understand, is an adsorber, meaning it attracts and traps toxins in its many crevassed surface and when you wash the charcoal away, along goes unwanted microscopic bits too.

I’ve applied some welcome modern day research to my recipe that makes it taste good and work even better. I use a lot of cocoa in my toothpaste because not only does it taste good but scientists at Tufts University have found that cocoa, because of its high level of theobromine, actually helps harden tooth enamel.

What is Remineralizing Anyway?

Remineralizing toothpaste is also all the rage but, as I understand it, it is as simple as adding calcium carbonate to the toothpaste mix to up the mineral content of the tooth cleanser. I’ve added a healthy dose of calcium chloride for teeth which not only provides the minerals but also a gentle cleansing for teeth too.

Another modern day boon to tooth cleanser is the sweetener Xylitol. Research suggest Xylitol is a sweet but effective means of fighting tooth decay.   It is a sugar alcohol derived from fibrous parts of plants which has no bitter after taste. My understanding of how Xylitol works is that it fools bacteria into thinking it is sugar but does not provide the necessary food for the bacteria to live so the bacteria perishes. Keep in mind though that something similar happens when non-primate animals (dogs) consume even a small amount of Xylitol – it fools their bodies into thinking they have consumed sugar and their pancreas releases a toxic level of insulin into the animal’s bloodstream.

FANTASTIC toothpaste! Took me sometime to get used to the color black, but I love everything about it. Nice, clean feel after brushing with a nice, clean coating on my teeth after brushing. Highly recommend following up with the Oil Swish!!

Interesting and something I’ll have to get used to. Need to be careful when I spit into the sink. Haha but the important thing, my teeth feel clean!

The best natural toothpaste I’ve come across. We made the switch to natural toothpaste last year and tried a few others that just weren’t what we were hoping for. It’s been a few months now, and the way our teeth look and feel has changed drastically! I actually look forward to brushing my teeth now. An unexpected plus, the toothpaste that gets onto the sink and counter makes it a habit to clean as you go, so a clean space is easily maintained!

Great tasting natural toothpaste. Makes teeth feel smooth and clean. Helps with bad breath and teeth whitening. Has helped so much with my sensitivity.

Appears to be a quality product and taste great, but to be honest it is super messy to use with an electric toothbrush. Leave a black residue all over the toothbrush, sink and vanity that only a oil remover cleaner will remove.
