My Herbal Hair Detangler is a gentle, effective, and silicone-free solution for tangled, frizz-prone hair. Infused with marshmallow, fenugreek, comfrey, kelp, lemon peel, and licorice, it smooths hair cuticles, reduces static, and leaves hair soft, shiny, and manageable. While it has a slight scent of apple cider vinegar, which helps smooth cuticles, the fragrance quickly fades to a subtle blend of vanilla, orange, and maple.

I created this detangler because, with my own hair growing longer than ever, I needed a natural, effective solution to manage tangles without harsh chemicals. Using this detangler with my Yucca & Oat Protein Shampoo Bar and Conditioning Bar, I can keep hair smooth for up to three days. Spray lightly between washes if needed, and wet your brush slightly for easier combing.

Key Ingredients and Benefits

Marshmallow Root (Althaea officinalis): A classic natural hair detangler, rich in mucilage for slip and glide. According to Therapeutic Effects of Marshmallow, marshmallow contains peptides, starches, mucilage, flavonoids, antioxidants, and amino acids. Extracts have antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and free radical scavenging properties. Helps comb through tangles while softening and strengthening hair.

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum): Featured in Cosmetics & Toiletries Magazine for smoothing cuticles, strengthening hair shafts, and improving shine. Rich in hydrating components and Vitamin B. Traditionally used in Ayurvedic Methi hair masks.

Comfrey (Symphytum officinale): Supports scalp health, eases irritation, and contains mucilage to help detangle hair.

Kelp: Naturally slippery, helps detangle while strengthening and conditioning hair.

Lemon Peel: Smooths cuticles and reduces frizz for added shine.

Licorice Root: A natural demulcent forming a protective barrier on hair, helping with tangles and being researched for hair growth benefits.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Lowers hair pH to smooth cuticles and preserve the formulation, reducing the need for additional preservatives.

Rice Protein: Conditions hair, fills gaps in damaged cuticles, and strengthens hair.

Cetrimonium Chloride: Reduces static and assists in detangling.

PEG-40 Castor Oil: Conditions hair and helps stabilize the blend.

Humectants: Propanediol 1,3, Sodium Lactate, and Glycerin provide moisture, smoothness, and frizz control.

Honeyquat: Natural conditioning agent for softer, more manageable hair.

Preservatives: Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Sorbate—effective, paraben- and formaldehyde-free.

Directions

1. Shake well before use.
2. Spray onto wet hair.
3. Comb through to gently detangle.
4. Use after shampooing and conditioning, or as needed to manage tangles and smooth flyaways.
