The universally loved smell of lemongrass soap bar makes this a perfect soap for the whole family. Lemongrass is used around the globe in cooking, fragrances, teas and cosmetics. In Sri Lanka it is a primary flavoring, in Brazil it is used to calm anxiety, in the Caribbean it is used to boost immunity. Lemongrass is an astringent like other citrus smells and great for those who have oily skin or are prone to body acne. I have included lemongrass leaves in the soap to act as a natural exfoliation to really help slough off old skin and dirt. Men are particularly attracted to the scent of my lemongrass soap, it is refreshing, invigoratingly real and natural.
I generously scent my soaps with lemongrass essential oil and add a little Litsea Cubeba, which is another natural essential oil in the citrus family that helps extend the scent of lemongrass.
Every soap maker takes their soap and soap recipe(s) very seriously, trying to achieve perfection. For me the perfect soap must be hard so it lasts a long time and, of course, cleansing but it can’t dry me out. I want my soap to make my skin feel moisturized and healthy. And there must be bubbles, lots and lots of bubbles while also feeling creamy and soothing. Finally, I want it to smell good and, of course, I think my soaps smell fantastic. I also want my soap to smell great for a long time so I always add extra.
