Many of us are experiencing more stress lately, myself included. So I’ve been using my own stress relieving pillow spray before bed. Not only do I enjoy the smell but it makes me feel like I’m taking care of myself and doing the best can to take care of myself.
And as one of my customers writes: “you can’t ever have too much to help with stress. These are stressful times for sure.” I agree!

My pillow spray is made from my own distillation of either home grown or dried leaves of Lemon Balm and Lavender. I add a restful blend of Essential Oils including Lavender, Litsea Cubeba, Bergamot, Marjoram, Frankincense, Clary Sage and Neroli.
I spray a couple spritzes on my pillow and find it helps me sleep. Science thinks this effect comes from some smells soothes the limbic system, including the amygdala and hippocampus
Scientific studies seem to back up this finding. One study shows that lavender can ease anxiety and depression and also shows strong promise at improving sleep. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3612440/)
A mixture of different oils can be even more helpful. Sleep.org says that “while one essential oil can be beneficial to sleep, a combination of several oils may be even better: a blend of multiple essential oils (clary sage, lavender, and marjoram) was found to be more effective at improving sleep quality than lavender oil alone. ” (https://www.sleep.org/articles/do-essential-oils-promote-good-sleep/)
