Traditional Orange Honey SHAMPOO BAR

(23 customer reviews)

Shampoo Bars! They are the ONLY way to go for the future. No water, Little or no packaging, much better for all of us. Lasts longers and ae better performing. What is not to love? There are a few different kinds and I think it might be important to understand the two main differences. This one is made by saponifying oils. It’s the one’s our great great grandparents would have made and used. When oil became very scarce during the first world war, we started making synthetic detergents and found out they worked better with hard water. For people who valued long soft hair, synthetic detergents were a miracle because there was no mineral buildup in our hair so it was much shinier and softer for many. But others among us would be just fine with the more natural option of simple soap based shampoos. They tend to leave hair a little thicker, curlier, they are more natural, most people don’t have a reaction to them and they can be made pretty easily. If you don’t like it on your hair, use it for a great hand soap and check out my syndet bar (synthetic detergent bar) – which I worship.

Traditional Orange Honey SHAMPOO BAR

Description

SIMPLE AND NATURAL ORANGE HONEY SHAMPOO BAR

This Orange Honey Shampoo Bar is an old-fashioned bar which is excellent for people who want to use traditional soap to wash their hair. It needs no preservatives and has simple ingredients. It is easily biodegradable.

It works for people who have soft water, short hair, the patience to rinse their hair with distilled water with ACV and/or for people whose hair responds well to it for reasons I haven’t yet been able to predict.

TRY THIS ORANGE HONEY SHAMPOO BAR FIRST

While not all hair types respond well to this shampoo, I often recommend people try this shampoo. My husband loves it. It’s great if you end up liking it for you hair because it is simple, natural, economical, and environmentally gentle. Plus, if it doesn’t give you the results you like, it makes a wonderful face or hand soap.

I use it occasionally because I think it is good for your hair to mix things up.

I do prefer my Yucca and Oatmeal Shampoo Bar made with high-end, salon quality sudsing ingredients. It is a more balanced Ph and gentle, it is conditioning and it is a good value as it lasts a long time. Most hair loves it – unless it is thin and oily and then it might be too gentle and conditioning.

THERE’S A SHAMPOO BAR PERFECT FOR EVERYONE

Shampoo bars are so convenient, usually economical and they have a much smaller carbon footprint then liquid shampoos that it is well worth experimenting. I write extensively about shampoo bars in: Choosing the Right Shampoo Bar for You.    This one is made using the same old-fashioned techniques our ancestors used to make their shampoo. This traditional bar doesn’t contain the chemicals found in store brand shampoos. That means, no propylene glycol, no sodium lauryl sulfate, no Diethanolamine, no, well strange things. It contains simple, good-for-your-hair saponified oils, proteins, essential oils and orange blossom fragrance.

Shampoo Bars are far more cost effective than liquid soaps. In tests, soap bars last much longer than liquid soaps, probably because you don’t use more than you need. This is both economical AND good for the environment. Soap bars require MUCH less packaging, are lighter to ship, and keep unnecessary chemicals out of the water supply. And, because you are using less soap, it doesn’t take as long to rinse the soap out of your hair!

MY ORANGE HONEY SHAMPOO BAR RECIPE
It took me a long time to find a shampoo soap recipe that worked for my hair. Kevin, my husband and partner in the business isn’t very effusive about many things but he is about my shampoo bars (he likes the Rosemary Shampoo Bar best). He loves how convenient it is, that he isn’t forced to use more than he needs, how it feels clean and adds body to his hair.

Before liquid shampoo, soap bars were the norm. I love this version of my shampoo bar with honey – which is a great humectant – and the orange blossom fragrance. Argan and Jojoba is used in high-end hair conditioners.

WHO IS MY ORANGE HONEY SHAMPOO BAR FOR?
This Shampoo Bar is especially great for people who want to add body to the hair. It also seems to make my hair curl.

WHY IS MY ORANGE HONEY SHAMPOO BAR SPECIAL?
Not all shampoo bars are the same. Some famous companies actually use Sodium Lauryl Sulfate as their first ingredient which sort of negates the reason to go to a shampoo bar in the first place. My Orange Honey Shampoo Bar is made with only saponified oils. I add the Jojoba and Argan after the saponification process so it is available to condition your hair more.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS IN MY ORANGE HONEY SHAMPOO BAR ?
Saponified Oils of Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Sustainable Organic Palm Oil, Organic Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Argan Oil, Beeswax, Essential Oils of Orange,Tangerine and fragrance.

I make my shampoos from scratch using the best ingredients I can while keeping the cost to you reasonable.

DIRECTIONS FOR USING MY ORANGE HONEY SHAMPOO BAR
For short hair, wet and lather up. For longer hair, it is easiest to part hair in sections and focus on the scalp. Longer hair might benefit from my rosemary water, Apple Cider Vinegar Spray to smooth hair cuticles.

DIRECTIONS FOR USING A TRADITIONAL SHAMPOO BAR
For short hair, wet and lather up. For longer hair, it is easiest to part hair in sections and focus on the scalp.

I recommend using a Apple Cider Vinegar rinse after use especially for longer hair. Not only will it rinse out any hard water minerals, it flattens the hair cuticles and there is some evidence that ACV helps with eczema too. I advise using Distilled water (because it is soft water and will make your hair look nice) and no more than 10% ACV. You can also follow with your favorite conditioner, which might make it unnecessary to use an ACV rinse). If making your own rinse isn’t your thing, you could try my Rosemary Water & Apple Cider Vinegar Spray to smooth hair cuticles..
Chemical free soap using saponified oils isn’t going to be for everyone, especially for those of us with challenging longer hair. I like to mix up my types of shampoos and having been doing it all my life, alternating between them. I have a Yucca shampoo that I really like that contains synthetics and also a traditional herb shampoo that you mix like tea before using.
