Why Cocoa Butter Matters

Not only does local honey and chocolate-grade cocoa butter add to the delicious flavor, but both also contribute to the effectiveness of this balm. According to an article exploring the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory potential of cocoa:

“Studies of Ady (2009) and Batista et al. (2016) also reported that cocoa contains antioxidants which enhance skin health through their active free radical scavenging activities. The butter derived from cacao seeds also displays hydrating and very high moisturizing abilities, which makes the skin smooth and healthier (Scapagnini et al., 2014). The derived phytochemicals of cocoa were proven to have good capacity for skin protection, treatment, and prevention of the different types of skin-related diseases (Sies and Stahl 2004; Kim et al., 2014).”

Ingredients

Argan Oil, Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Yellow Beeswax, Organic Unrefined Cocoa Butter, Local Honey, Real Vanilla and Mint, Vitamin E.

Sustainable Packaging

The packaging is biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable. Each tube is made with FSC-certified, 100% recycled brown kraft paper on the outside and a vegetable-wax coating inside.

Because they are made without harsh bonding agents, expect natural variations and slight oil markings—signs of their honesty and simplicity. Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or moisture. If the lid loosens, roughen the edge, snug it tighter, or lightly dampen it to allow the cardboard to swell for a secure fit.
