Plant sterols repair damaged and aged skin, improve skin elasticity and aid in skin moisture retention. High levels of carotenoids act to help protect and rejuvenate skin. I include Carrot seed oil and Sea Buckthorn Oils because they are crazy rich in antioxidants and are both used to fight scars and sun damage. Sea Buckthorn is really helpful dealing with sun burns while carrot seed oil is a wonderful detoxifier and anti-inflammatory oil.
Black Currant Oil: Extracted from the seeds of the Ribes nigrum plant. It is rich in Omega-6 essential fatty acid GLA (gamma-linolenic acid C18:3n-6) and is also a good source of ALA (alpha-linolenic acid C18:3n-3) an Omega-3 essential fatty acid. extremely moisturizing and calming, while feeling light and nourishing.
Abyssinian oil, also known as Crambe oil, is expeller-pressed. Its molecular makeup and high concentration of unsaturated fatty acids, makes it highly anti-oxidizing. This light, balanced and nourishing oil, absorbs in skin leaving a even tone and keeps skin elasticity for long periods of time.
Argan and Jojoba are extremely moisturizing and make my skin feel “dewy. Jojoba is the closest oil to our natural sebum and Argan Oil is a super valuable oil from Morocco that has become recently famous for its ability to bring skin and hair to healthy life. Packed with Omega-6 and Vitamin E and F, this oil speeds healing of scars and rejuvenates older skin.
Apricot Kernel Oil is rich in fatty acids and vitamins A, C and E. and is the perfect base for infusing calendula, chamomile, comfrey and gotu kola herbs into my serum. Calendula is famous for its healing properties, chamomile is a soothing herb that treats inflammation, comfrey is a natural source of allantoin which encourages new skin cell growth. Gotu Kola is rich in triterpene saponins, known to firm and tighten skin?s appearance and is also rich in flavonoids, making it a great antioxidant.
Sea Buckthorn, sourced from Western Canada, is a hardy plant often used to help farmers stabilize soil and act as wind breaks. It is also the newest rediscovered superfood with 15 times more Vit C then oranges. It also acts as an astringent, contracting pores and is used as an anti-inflammatory. I met a woman from Russia who told me, unbidden, that her father, a Nuclear Physicist in Russia grew and harvested Sea Buckthorn oil to treat radiation burns. I had heard this but her story convinced me it was true.
Primrose Oil is an American native plant, jammed with gamma-linolenic acid and is used to soothe and heal an array of dermatitis issues.
Calendula Oil is something you will find in many baby products because of its healing abilities and gentleness. Calendula is a marigold and does not produce it’s own oil so when you see Calendula oil, this means that oils have been infused with the Calendula flowers.
Carrot Seed Oil: This precious extraction is said to detoxify and add a golden glow to skin while protecting it from the effects of UV Rays. The detoxifying ability is credited to the high quantities of oil soluble carotenoids. Studies point to carrot seed oil possessing both antioxidant qualities and anti-inflammatory impact. It is often used to relieve dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, wrinkles, and aid in dry skin and revitalizing the basal layer. There is also evidence that it assists circulation.
I use it at night and lightly massage in a bit on slightly damp face after I wash my face (usually with my soda face wash or, if I wore make up my Oil Cleansing Treatment.
Sometimes I wear this serum alone or I use my Sunflower face lotion on top of this serum for the day for added protection from the elements. At night, I am might use my Red Tea and Black Currant face lotion on top of the serum when I feel I need a bit extra moisturizing.
The scent is earthy and rosey, like the smell of working in the rose garden. Some find the scent of carrot seed oil too strong but I personally love it and plus, carrot seed oil is so good for our skin.
A little of this goes a long way.
